Desdemona-
Desdemona’s reputation is very important as her reputation is what could have saved her but also got her killed. Her reputation proceeds her to be loyal, trustworthy, and kind, and to help people would are in need, and Iago uses this against her, as she tries to help Cassio, get his position back, Iago implies that she is cheating on Othello. Othello also doesn’t consider her reputation when he accuses her, other wise he would have realised that she did not cheat on him and that she left her father because she loved him.
Cassio-
Cassio’s reputation is important in the play, as part of Iago’s plan it to destroy Cassio’s reputation, causing him to be demoted and have Othello lose his trust in him, because of this Desdemona tries to help Cassio and this causes Othello to believe that Desdemona is unfaithful, resulting in Desdemona’s death.
Iago-
Iago’s reputation plays a significant role in the play as he is seen as loyal and trustworthy, be he is the complete opposite. Thanks to Iago’s reputation his plans work and he is able to convince Othello that Desdemona is cheating on him, as Othello trusts him more then Desdemona.
